New video and images have been released by Atlantic Productions company of the wreckage of the Titanic. This is the first new footage to be released in 14 years and depicts the dramatic rate of decay occurring.
The footage was shot using specially designed cameras able to withstand the pressure of 12,500 feet. Expedition Clare Fitzsimmons of Newcastle University said the ship has begin to decay badly due to “immense amount of life at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.”
The footage will be used for an upcoming documentary. 2012 marked the 100th anniversary of the ships sinking. Once thought to be the “unsinkable” ship, the titanic struck an iceberg on it’s maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City and sank. 1,514 souls were lost.
