Reported by the Washington Free Beacon, in 2013 Rep. Omar tweeted a birthday greeting to her father. But the Beacon’s Brent Scher points out that the tweet is more significant than a simple well-wishing

The  2013 post by Omar wishing a Happy Father’s Day to a man named “Nur Said”  resurfaced late Monday night when Imam Mohamad Tawhidi pointed to it as further evidence that Omar’s previous husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, was her brother. In Somali culture, a man’s middle name is typically the name of his father. Omar deleted the tweet revealing her father’s name on Tuesday at 5:23 a.m., according to ProPublica’s  tracker of deleted tweets.

Media speculation on whether Omar married her brother as part of a chain migration scam has been met with consistent denouncing and racist name calling from left leaning publications. It’s not solid proof of Omar marring her brother, but the timing of the tweets deletion and the name “Nur Said”, which follows traditional Somali naming conventions should give some validity to the claims and is worth of an investigation she obviously didn’t marry her father so who was she really wishing happy birthday to?
